Music at McBride Plaza is a six-concert outdoor music series held in Downtown Coral Gables at McBride Plaza, 150 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, FL. The series fosters a serendipitous “collision” between student musicians and people in Downtown Coral Gables—residents, visitors, business owners, and beyond—finding joy in a shared musical experience.
Music at McBride Plaza was envisioned by Barbara Tria. As a long-time Commercial Real Estate professional working in Downtown Coral Gables, an active member of the Coral Gables BID, and a musician herself, she recognized the unique opportunity that bringing live music into the Downtown could create. Showcasing the exceptional talent of students from UM’s Frost School of Music in an intimate outdoor performance setting offers an unconventional stage for the students, giving them a platform where the barrier between performer and audience is low and immediate feedback is possible. In turn, the audience is welcome to stay for full performances or simply stop by for a short while.
Originally launched as ENCORE in 2022, the series was renamed Music at McBride Plaza in 2023. Performances, which are free and open to all, feature students from the Frost School of Music who have auditioned and been invited to perform.
The music series is funded by the City of Coral Gables, the Arthur B. McBride Family Foundation, the Dosal Family Foundation, and the Coral Gables Welcome Center.
As we launch our fifth season, we look forward to welcoming a growing audience, deepening our connection with the community, and continuing to create meaningful moments where music brings people together.
Music at McBride Plaza is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and partners.
